Meet Heather
Hello, my name is Heather and I run Classic Core Fitness. My aim is to help others gain the same benefits from Pilates that I have found over the last few years. I am an an active mum of three who loves gardening, caring for my animals and walking. I have lived in Tintern, in the Wye Valley for the past 9 years. I am a level 3 fully qualified and insured mat Pilates teacher and am currently studying to gain my level 4 qualification.
My personal Pilates journey began when I fell on a beach a few years ago and badly injured my shoulder. I have always been a very active person enjoying sports such as horse riding, paddle boarding, running, mountain biking, skiiing, sea kayaking etc (I've pretty much had a go at most things) and to find myself injured for a short while was a bit of a shock. Luckily I was able to regain mobility and strength in my shoulder after a course of physio and help from my consultant doctor but I was still not 100% back to normal. My friend then introduced me to Pilates and the benefits became immediately obvious. The strength and mobility, not only in my shoulder, but in other areas of my body that I had neglected for years improved greatly.
I love the feeling I get after even just a short Pilates session. I liken it to feeling like I have had my joints 'oiled' and I feel strong both mentally and physically. I especially enjoy my morning Pilates sessions as it wakes my body up in such a gentle way and helps me to feel refreshed and positive.
So if you're thinking this sounds like something you would like to try or you already have a love for Pilates, come along, join one of my relaxed sessions, regain your flexibility and find the strength within your core.
Why Choose Pilates?
It can help with
Core Strength
Improve your core strength and stability with specialised Pilates exercises designed to target and tone your abdominal muscles. With strength comes stability. Core stability allows the spine to move through its vertebral segments without risk of injury.
Flexibility
Enhance your flexibility and range of motion with dynamic Pilates movements that promote better posture and agility.
Mind-Body Connection
Experience a mind-body connection as you engage in controlled movements, fostering mindfulness, focus and concentration.
Injury Rehabilitation
Support your body's recovery from injuries and prevent future strains with rehabilitative Pilates. If you are recovering from a specific injury then Pilates centred around your individual needs can greatly improve your recovery.
Pain Relief
Pilates is renowned for it's benefits in easing back pain, neck pain and headaches.
It is also often used to help manage the symptoms of Hypermobility, Osteoporosis and Arthritis.
Improve posture
Achieving an 'ideal' posture is one that produces the lowest level of stress on the body and keeps it aligned so that weight is distributed evenly through the joints and muscles. It maintains the natural curves of the spine to allow maximum functional ability and reduce pain and risk of injury.
